He told her something he regretted he’d said.
Flippantly delivered he went -
“There you are”.

Her reaction was too calm, too understanding
For him to deal with it.
“How can she still care?”

The words hadn’t sunk in with her though,
Consequences were brushed aside.
They parted with a kiss, never to be repeated again.
